The vulcanized fibre is obtained by the stratification of cellulosic paper after the immersion in zinc chloride and acid baths. This manufacturing method brings the material high mechanical and electrical characteristics. Various grades (electrical or mechanical) are available according to the final application of the product.
Key characteristics (electrical grade) :
- continuous service temperature 120°C
- fire classification (UL94 HB or V0 according to grades).
- Very good dielectrical strength (11.7 KV/mm on 0.60 mm)
- Very good arc resistance
- High chemical resistance (organic solvents, oils)
- High mechanical resistance (abrasion, tear propagation)
- Can be impregnated.
A large range :
- large thickness range (from 0.30 to 2.4 mm)
- large colour range (white, black, red, blue grey)
Applications
- motors and rotating machines
- dry-type and oil-filled transformers
- devices
